Missouri residents will soon be able to utilize a new state-of-the-art shooting range in St. Charles.
The August A. Busch Memorial Shooting Range will open on Saturday, October 28, just in time for hunters to sight-in before opening day.
"The Department is excited to open the new range ahead of the firearm deer seasons," said Deputy Director Aaron Jeffries. "The new Busch Shooting Range is a world-class facility for hunters and shooters to practice their shooting skills."
To celebrate the grand opening, the Missouri Department of Conservation is holding a special event from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those who attend will receive a free 25-clay target round of trap/skeet or one free hour of shooting at the rifle/pistol range.
A commemorative set of cased earplugs will be provided to the first 500 shooters by The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation.
The August A. Bush Memorial Shooting Range is much larger than the older facility St. Louis-area shooters and hunters were accustomed to. It features 20 positions at the 100-yard range and 15 positions at the 50-yard range. Shotgun shooters will find five trap/skeet overlay ranges and two patterning ranges. Archery facilities are also available, including a range with an elevated shooting tower.
There's also an office/education center, with an 80-seat classroom for hosting events and learning opportunities.
Even with the brand new facility, use fees will remain the same: $3 per round of trap/skeet or hour at the range. This price includes paper or clay targets and basic ear protection.
For those who want to check it out, the August A. Bush Memorial Shooting Range is located at 3550 Route D, which is approximately five miles west of Highway 94.
