A beaver in Saskatchewan put the kibosh on a wedding when it took out the pole carrying power to the big party.
In a wedding "blessed by a beaver," Kim and Calum Martin found out what it's really like to have a truly 'Canadian' wedding.
The May 27, 2017, wedding the two had planned at the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park was marked by an extra special event when a busy beaver (pun intended) dropped a hydro (power) pole near the nuptials.
The SaskPower Facebook page posted pictures of the rodents work saying,
"Our crews were working hard to safety restore power to the Maple Creek area on Saturday. The cause of the extended outage? A very busy beaver."
Luckily it didn't take long for the quick thinking staff at the resort to light some candles and get the generators going.
Kim Martin said,
"The food was hot, the music was loud, there were drinks — there was everything we wanted. There was less light, but that really was it and that wasn't a big deal to us"
Since there are little to no trees in the area it wasn't such a surprise that the enterprising beaver had its way with the pole. Now the power company just has to find a way to keep it from happening again.
Did we say only in Canada?
