Never doubt the ability of a big fish to kick our butts anywhere in the world.
We've all tried to land the big one without a net, and we've all gotten wet trying. The big difference here is the fact that there's still ice on the water.
That didn't stop these guys from doing the same thing that he rest of us would have done: try to land it anyway.
