Although flamethrowers are largely used as props these days, that doesn't stop people from being curious. And a company that makes them knows that which is why they strapped one to a robot dog dubbed the Thermonator.
The new Thermonator is a highly adaptive remote-controlled robot equipped with Throwflame's new ARC Flamethrower. Based on the imagery, the robot appears to be a Unitree Go2, which you can buy in bulk from Alibaba.
In the video promoting the Thermonator, the robot is seen walking through a wooded area while shining lights and lasers until the pulsing techno music drops. "Now I have become death. The destroyer of worlds," says a voice. Then, the robot spews flames.
As for the ARC Flamethrower, it's the newest edition to Flamethrow's lineup. It's designed with a plasma arc ignition and a rail system, so you can mount it to a firearm or some other device (like a robot dog).
According to the company's website, you can fuel the flamethrowers using a concoction of diesel and gasoline or napalm.
The Cleveland-based company suggests you could use a flamethrower for wildfire control and prevention, agricultural management, ecological conservation, snow or ice removal, or entertainment.
Throwflame is selling the Thermonator on its website for as little as $9,420.
