This is how all Michigan steelhead fishing should sound.
Michigan just might be the fishing capital of the United States. Just about anywhere you can travel, you have world class, gold medal water waiting on you. From smallmouth bass and muskie to trout, salmon and steelhead, every major sport fish is there waiting for you. However, there's just something special about those Michigan steelhead that entices people to travel to those Great Lakes waters to chase them. For a fish like that, background music like you are about to hear is the only soundtrack.
Now this is what it's all about. Steelhead hook the soul of many fishermen that chase them. I got into my first steelhead this past year up in New York. Now, I hope my first fish of 2018 is going to be one of these Michigan steelhead you just saw. There's just something about the way these fish hit and relentlessly fight that makes you dream about them, even when you don't want to.
Next time I hit the water, though, I may have to bring some headphones. Maybe I'll get as lucky as these guys.
