Monofilament vs. Braided Line: Which One Will Meet Your Freshwater Fishing Needs?

In this monofilament vs. braided line video an expert discusses where and when you should consider using each type to improve your fish hook-ups.

I have always fished with monofilament line, for as long as I can remember, and I always wondered what cases braided line is better suited for. Here are some good pointers on each of the line types and where they are best used for lake and river fishing.

Well there are some tips that make sense when using each of the lines; braided for heavier cover because of its superior strength and mono for those more nuanced open water fishing conditions, so as not to spook more wary fish.

I also like how this guy carries two of the same rods, one loaded with mono and one with braided line so that he can fish cover and open areas as he comes on them. This gives more flexibility for your angling adventures as you move about a lake or river.

This spring consider using both types of line and increasing your ability to fish different areas of your favorite water.
