Alaska is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. Locals and visitors see wolves, caribou, moose, Dall sheep, and a few different species of bears. Of course, for the locals, your yard is also theirs, which can lead to some pretty funny experiences. One viral YouTube video puts a confirmation stamp on that notion, because it features a moose playing on a slip and slide with some great giggle-laden commentary from the videographer and his family.
The video's caption says the man and his wife were sitting on the front porch of their North Pole, Alaska home enjoying some morning coffee, when a young bull moose walked out from the trees. They decided to safely observe the little fellow from inside. A homemade slip and slide, consisting of a few tarps staked down to the grass, was left in yard, and since no one was around to say "No," the moose took it upon himself to investigate.
At first, the moose stomps around a bit on the slip and slide, pawing and kicking (and probably expecting a bigger splash). It's tough to tell if he was mad at it or if he was having fun. The young moose does find a few puddles to paw at and splash in as he moves from end to end, and he even pauses to kneel and take a sip of water. Then it happens: he gets a running start, and completely wipes out as only a moose can.
In the video, you can hear the family watching him laughing in the background at his silly display. When the moose finally decides to move after his spill, he ventures down the slip and slide toward the family's trampoline. He lacks the previous pep in his step that provided all the entertainment. Live and learn, I suppose. It's all part of growing up.
