When most people come to the American west and see a moose, they stand mesmerized by one of nature's most magnificent creatures. Catching a glimpse of one truly is a treat if you don't live in moose country. For those residents who share their home with these massive mammals, the moose can sometimes become a nuisance, mostly because moose are big, and they don't like being told what to do. They usually go where they want, when they want, without many consequences. Jackson Hole, Wyoming is a prime example of a place where people must share their homes with these creatures whether they like it or not.
This video shows what happens when a young bull moose decides to invade a youth soccer game. You can see the bull run right out on the field as people scatter to get themselves and small children out of the way. In an attempt to shoo it away, a man on an electric bike begins to herd the animal off the field and away from all the startled people.
You've got to wonder what was going on with some of the parents who didn't pull their kids away until the last second. Either they weren't paying attention, or the moose came up too quickly for them to give it a wide berth. Either way, it's fortunate there were no injuries in this incident. It's just another part of daily life living in Wyoming!
Like it or not, this is the kind of thing many residents of mountainous western states must be prepared for any time they're outside. Especially in the urban areas, where moose lose much of their traditional fear of humans and live among homes and businesses quite normally. This isn't the first time we've seen video of a moose loose in an area it probably should be in Jackson, and we're doubting it'll be the last either. All you can really do is get out of the way, because these animals are large, and cranky.
