Mossberg Patriot Predator Now Available in TrueTimber Strata

The new Mossberg Patriot Predator in TrueTimber Strata camo is a sight to see.

We're big fans of rifles that don't just perform, but look the part, too. These days, you can't overdo it in terms of specifying a gun for a purpose, and the right camo pattern is often an integral part.

That's why we were excited to see the new TruTimber Strata O.F. Mossberg Patriot Predator rifle. It's a win-win for predator hunters across the board.

We got to shoot a Patriot Predator with a synthetic flat dark earth stock a while back on a trip to Wyoming, and felt like it could rival the best of the best when it comes to predator guns. It really couldn't have gotten much better, until we saw depictions of it with the TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock.

Even TrueTimber's CEO Rusty Sellars can agree it's a perfect match.

"We're thrilled to see one of our most popular patterns on the Mossberg Patriot," said Sellars. "Mossberg is celebrating their 100th year anniversary and they're one of the top US firearms manufacturers. The Patriot rifle is a great match for Strata as they're both known for the versatility they give hunters across the country."

The bolt action rifle has a top mounted Picatinny rail that includes scope bases and a user-adjustable LBA trigger. The oversized bolt handle is easy to use, even with gloves on.

The Patriot Predator comes standard with fluted and 5/8"- 24TPI threaded barrels, ready for your choice of muzzlebrake or suppressor. There's a four-round box magazine as well.

The Strata camo version of the Patriot Predator comes chambered for .243 Win, .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .22-250 Rem. They all have a barrel length of 22 inches and an overall length of 42.25 inches. Knowing predator hunters aren't always sitting in one spot and require mobility, it scales out to a relatively lightweight six and a half pounds.

What is it about Strata that makes it such a good camo pattern? It uses both macro and micro camo schematics—the macro design breaks up a hunter's outline at all distances, and the micro elements seem to melt into any terrain at close range. If you're hunting the open country of the west, the mixed forests of the south, to the leaf-barren late season hardwoods of the east, or anything in between, it's going to be tough to find a more effective all-purpose pattern.

All this rings in at an affordable MSRP of $524, a great value when you consider everything this predator hunting rifle has going for it. Mossberg has a leg up on the competition in a lot of categories.

When will ALL of our favorite hunting guns get a camo pattern as cool as this one? We're counting the days.
