Little girl lost or ghostly spirit? The folks of Cambridge, NY, are divided over this mysterious trail cam pic.
Do you believe in ghosts? Some folk in the quaint town of Cambridge, NY, certainly do, after a trail cam image depicting a 'girl' deep in the woods began making the rounds a few weeks ago. Then again, skeptics simply believe it to be a little girl lost. Strange thing is, no family has come forward to claim her as their own. And that's where the plot thickens.
The tract of woods, located off of Route 74, had recently been purchased by new landowners, interested in using it for hunting. In order to ensure the area was free of trespassers, they decided to set up a trail cam in order to monitor any activity. That's when they discovered the 'girl.'
According to reports, the police were notified, as the landowners simply wanted to inform the girl's parents. The police chief has stated the footage is real, but weeks into the investigation, there's still no sign of the girl - or her family. Locals are starting to believe the image may be related to a little girl's tragic death that took place years ago.
Here's a video that tells the intriguing backstory:
Did your mind change at all after you heard the purported legend of a little girl hit and killed by a train on tracks that previously ran through this area? Kind of gives you the shivers, doesn't it?
What's your honest belief: little girl lost or ghostly spirit? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
Update 5-7-17: It appears that the mystery has been solved!
According to Cambridge Police Chief George Bell, he received a phone call from a man this week saying the little girl in the image is his granddaughter.
"I don't want to give a name until we verify it, but it's a local businessman in southern Washington County who says, around the time frame that this picture was taken, that he and his granddaughter were walking a four-wheeler path," Bell told WTEN-TV.
