You gotta watch this Orvis video until the end. It's worth it.
Over the last several years, Orvis has been putting out some extremely knowledgable fishing videos designed for fly fishing. This recent video showing how to target northern pike on the fly is no different. However, this video has something a little different than most of the others. As you watch, you are going to have to follow this clip to the end. Then, it will all make sense.
Besides, when a fishing video is talking about Dory and Nemo, you gotta finish just to see where it's going.
Yep. You heard that right. "Nemo and Dory would have been an extremely short snuff film." Goodness, congrats Orvis. I laughed out loud.
Even though the underlying tone was how Dory and Nemo would have been eaten in seconds if this was real life, the information is solid. Cast your fly as close to cover as you can, and a predatory fish is likely going to eat it. Big fish don't like to travel far for a meal. Keeping things tight to cover will get you more strikes.
...Snuff film... good job, Orvis, for keeping us on our toes.
