These are some of the coolest new offerings to take afield this fall.
We can finally feel it. Fall and our favorite time of year, hunting season is well on its way or has already started in some areas. In the coming weeks and months sportsmen and women will head afield looking to down a limit of ducks, or to finally put an arrow through that big buck they have watched on trail camera all summer long.
The tail end of summer is the perfect time to take stock of your outdoor gear and maybe add a few new items for hunting, fishing, and camping while you are at it. Today we are highlighting some recent new products that are worth a second look.
This gear is useful across all three of those categories and will greatly add to your adventures this fall.
KUIU Peloton 240 Full Zip Jacket
This is the mid-layer you should have as the season gets underway, whether you're hiking into the backcountry for an elk hunt or stalking a whitetail on your own farm. The KUIU Peloton 240 Full Zip top is made of Toray bonded fleece which is buttery soft and super flexible, but it will also wick moisture away from your skin, keeping you cool and dry. The Peloton is breathable and thermo-regulating, and among the lightest camo hunting top I've ever pulled over my head. It would work just fine as an outer layer in dry, mild conditions, but where it excels is as a mid-layer under rain or cold weather gear.
Savage Renegauge Prairie
If you haven't heard of the Savage Arm Renegauge shotgun yet, where've you been the last year and a half? The award-winning D.R.I.V. Gas System and smooth, fast cycling gives the gun a great foundation, but the added Cerakote-finished action and TrueTimber Prairie camo stock and forend make it the total waterfowl gun.
Old Town Discovery Solo 119
This new offering from Old Town combines the best of both worlds from both kayaks and canoes into one multi-function watercraft that is as much fun for casual paddling as it is hunting and fishing. It would be a great option to take afield during the upcoming waterfowl seasons. Old Town kept the weight of this craft down to just 56 pounds despite the 11 feet, nine-inch length. It tracks like a kayak yet offers the open storage space of a canoe. There are multiple built-in rod holders, adjustable foot braces, padded armrests, shotgun shell holders, and a padded, kayak-style seat. The Discovery Solo 119 has a 354-pound weight capacity which means it can easily handle all your decoys, fishing gear, or even camping gear. Pick one up now for those late summer adventures and you'll be set for when spring rolls around again too.
VSSL Flask
A while back we reviewed the VSSL Camp Supplies and First Aid kit flashlights, and they have become some of our favorite outdoor gear. This genius design packs small, useful items into the military grade aluminum body of a flashlight for incredible space savings. Well, they have added another new product to the line, the VSSL Flask. Just like the other flashlights, it has a bright, 200 lumen LED light with four lighting modes, and an oil-filled precision compass that can operate at extreme temperature. The cool thing with this one is that it includes a nine-ounce flask to hold spirits. Also packing into the body are two collapsible 1.5-ounce stainless steel shot glasses, so you can toast those special moments in the outdoors with friends. There is even a bottle opener. Sounds like a great deer camp accessory to us!
Morakniv Kansbol Survival
No matter what type of outdoor adventure you are partaking in, a good knife goes a long way in the field. Ignik Re-usable Hand and Toe Warmers

If you are like us, you love using those little disposable handwarmer packs for hunting in cold temperatures. They generate tons of heat that really helps on those frosty mornings. The only problem is they are single use only. It makes us hesitate a bit to rip one open for a short hunt. Also, they generate a ton of garbage.
Ignik recognized this and found a better way with their new hand and toe warmers. Much like traditional warmers, they are air-activated. The big difference is you can put them back in the bag and re-seal them for use up to 72 hours later. Each one provides up to ten hours of heat. When you are done with them, the warmers are also 98 percent biodegradable and can be thrown on a compost pile. Less waste in the environment and getting more use out of handwarmers for the money? We love it.

It's hard to pick one pair of hunting boots to wear for all of your adventures, as different terrain can demand quite a wide variety of features. For this reason, avid hunters typically own a couple pairs of boots, often one for muddy, messy terrain, and one for hiking for significant distances. Hiking boots usually don't hold up too well to excessive mud, and mud boots get uncomfortable after a mile or so.

This 16-liter pack only weighs 6.7 ounces and compresses down for travel. If you are looking for a new hunting pack for your knives, calls, and other assorted odds and ends, this is a good option. We like this one for Midwest hunters who like to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds a mile or two from the roads on public hunting land. It is also great for the day hiker who likes to take lengthy walks of five or six miles, but dislikes heavy backcountry packs.
