Off the Hook is a part of the Take Me Fishing initiative that will bring free fishing fun to new anglers across the country.
According to TakeMeFishing.org, folks across the country will have a chance to get a rod and reel in their hands and experience fishing the way it's supposed to be done with the traveling Off the Hook activation.
This is a free, Instagram-ready opportunity that will produce a "pop-up fishing experience" meant for those who maybe haven't given it a shot, or need some inspiration to pick it up again.
The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation is offering this as a part of National Fishing and Boating Week between June 1 through June 9, 2019 and it's sponsored by five of the best known names in the outdoor biz: Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, L.L. Bean, Nature Valley, and the venerable Zebco Fishing.
Off the Hook is helping the Take Me Fishing organization appeal to families the nation over, and show them the benefits of taking part in our time honored pastime of angling.
It's debut this season will begin in New York City and travel thereafter down the coast to the Washington, D.C. area and to the Midwest for a stop in Minneapolis.
With additional locations to be announced, prospective anglers can still take part in what will also offer a free, interactive introduction to fishing complete with games, snacks, and more.
"For more than 20 years we've been growing participation in fishing and boating, and Off the Hook is an exciting next chapter of our efforts to get more people out on the water," said Frank Peterson, President and CEO of RBFF. "We're intentionally bringing this attraction to cities to show fishing is an activity for everyone. From the city lakes of Minneapolis to the river piers of Manhattan, anyone can cast a line and catch a fish."
Take Me Fishing also has a series of how-to videos, information on how to obtain a fishing license or a boat registration, and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find local boating and fishing spots.
Potential anglers don't need experience or fishing equipment to participate, which makes it a pretty great opportunity!
