When India's Animal Aid Unlimited received a call about an elderly street dog unable to move, rescuers wasted no time.
The dog had been stuck in a sewage-filled gutter when a passerby took mercy and pulled him out. However, the senior dog was immobile and unable to crawl out of the road, so there he sat.
When Animal Aid's rescue team arrived, they discovered that the dog had a deep, maggot-infested wound on his hind end. With kind hands, they wrapped him in a blanket and carried him to the rescue truck. When the dog arrived at Animal Aid's rescue facility, he got a bath and the emergency veterinary care he so desperately needed. Injured, weak, and severely dehydrated, he had a long road ahead of him. For three days, he laid in his kennel. Rescue workers gave him fluids and hoped for the best.
On day three: a miracle! The old dog sat up and began to eat on his own. From there, it was all downhill and there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
A month later, and the once-immobile, sewage-covered dog with no hope had transformed into a happy, healthy senior. A precious life saved, all thanks to Animal Aid's heroic efforts.
