Just about every time a barbie rod is used to catch a big fish, it's a big deal.
I don't really know what it is about a barbie rod, but somehow this children's toy manages to catch huge fish. As a matter of fact, there is even a "Barbie Rod Challenge" that consists of people trying to catch the biggest fish they can on it. In the video you are about to see, a giant northern pike falls victim to this pink rod of doom.
Even though the angler in this video was purposefully trying to accomplish his goal, his barbie rod came through.
So do you have what it takes to land big fish on a barbie rod like you just saw? Perhaps with a can of corn and a little stronger line, one of these rods could bust some huge carp?
I doubt videos like these are going to go away anytime soon, but who cares? They are pretty awesome. Even though the hook setting power is fairly limited, there's no doubt a barbie rod can hold it's own.
Maybe in 2017 we'll see how far one of these rods can go before they actually break.
