This is one lucky rescue pup! The Humane Society of Charlotte made it their mission to save this dog 'Sweet Potato' and look at her now!
We included a few videos and Facebook posts so you can see the progress made by those that never gave up on this sweet dog. She even trained on some wheels too! The humane society and countless partners did go the extra mile for this dog that was paralyzed in her rear legs due to a spinal injury.
Here's Sweet Potato's story and we learned a few details in a great post written by iheartdogs.com. She found her forever home about a month after being at the shelter which is amazing since many special need dogs are unfortunately passed up at a lot of shelters. This story is a great example of a shelter that made sure this dog was in the spotlight getting the help she needed to make a swift transition into rehabilitation.
Just check out the campaign they launched and you'll see all the effort made by SO many people: #SelfiesWithSweetPotato campaign.
Sweet Potato received acupuncture treatments which we know make a big difference! See below!
She also received a special wheelchair. It's so much easier to get a dog adopted when they've already started their treatment plan! Gunnar's Wheels Foundation helps dogs in shelter environments and look at the PINK wheels.
We have a great suggestion for special needs dogs that are waiting for their wheels! Check out the Paws & Pals 3 Wheeler Elite Jogger Pet Stroller. This will help you get your dog out while you make the transition to wheels as Sweet Potato did.
