Up Close Look at the Performance Center M&P Shield Plus

Here are all the details on the new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P Shield Plus handgun.

If you haven't heard, there's a newly-released Smith & Wesson pistol hitting shelves. It's the micro-compact M&P Shield Plus, a 9mm that the firearm manufacturer has designed for concealed carriers looking for a better, more capable and custom option for self-defense.

As has become common with most new Smith & Wesson guns, this latest inclusion in the M&P Shield Series is getting the Performance Center treatment.

Once you understand what advancements went into the Performance Center M&P Shield Plus and why they were added, you'll see the value of this upgraded option.

For the uninitiated, Smith & Wesson's Performance Center is sort of a "custom gun shop," a place where they can tinker with added accessories and features to improve an already-satisfying firearm platform, giving consumers more of a personalized and specialized end product.

With the M&P Shield Plus, which gets its name from its impressive 13+1 capacity (using an extended magazine), the Performance Center enhancements help assist with accuracy and aim, grip and feel, as well the overall ease of use and carrying.

The Performance Center M&P Shield Plus is optics-ready and comes with an included 4 MOA red dot sight from trusted brand Crimson Trace. There are also fiber optic sights for those who want to maintain the slim, small figure for concealed carry purposes without losing sight capabilities in low light.

Shooters will also appreciate the ported barrel in the Performance Center version, and the lengthened slide (which is also ported). Both will promote easier, smoother racking each and every time.

Of course, you can expect the rest of the enhancements the standard model M&P Shield Plus guns have, like the flat-face trigger, 18-degree grip angle, optimized grip stippling, and two included magazines (the aforementioned 13-round and a standard 10-round for legal compliance and a more concealable overall size).

With the Performance Center M&P Shield Plus, you're set up with an upgraded, performance-driven firearm instead of having to shop around and juggle your choices for aftermarket accessories and improvements. Essentially, Smith & Wesson did the work for you, and you can trust the decisions were the right ones for both the gun and the shooter.
