You might already do an Advent Calendar for your kids, but what about your fur babies?
In many countries, you'll find a custom of counting down the days of December with a special calendar, often called an Advent calendar. Each day of the calendar reveals a small gift or a treat for the children of the household. So while Advent calendars are nothing new, they've become crazy popular in the U.S. over the last few years. Calendars of every type imaginable are popping up.
The ones that tickle our fancy the most, of course, are those for our furry friends. Why should our canine and feline 'children' be denied a part in the celebration? Check out this year's newest Advent calendars designed for dogs and cats.

BEST FRIENDS ADVENT CALENDAR - 24 UNIQUE TREATS FOR ALL DOGS
This is a 24-day calendar from the Himalayan Pet Supply (located, not in Nepal, but Washington State, in case you were wondering). It's presented in the classic Advent calendar format: a series of windows, behind each of which is a treat. And what treats they are: cookies and chews with flavors like cheese, peanut butter, bacon, banana nut, chicken pot pie and carrot cake. The festive time of year just became the yummy time of year for your pupper.
BOSCO & ROXY BARK THE HALLS DOG TREAT ADVENT CALENDAR
Your pooch will get 24 days of treats from this whimsical calendar. Behind each window is a dog biscuit made with applesauce and crushed peanuts. Fa la la la la... Bow wow wow wow wow!
HAPPIE HARE CAT ADVENT HOLIDAY CALENDAR WITH POCKETS
This is a calendar for cats that you can customize. It runs through 24 days, each with a pocket that you can fill with your tabby's go-to treat. Want to mix things up? Blue Buffalo Bursts are a feline favorite and come in three flavors. It's topped off with a cat face in a Santa hat and a candy cane scarf, which makes it a great decoration for the holidays.
FRISCO HOLIDAY 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDAR WITH TOYS FOR DOGS
This calendar stands apart for two reasons. It's only twelve days, and it dispenses toys instead of treats. If your fur kid is more of toy dog than a treat dog, this may be the calendar to nab, despite its shorter duration.
PURINA FANCY FEAST HOLIDAY ADVENT CALENDAR FOR CATS
Kitty gets to savor 24 numbered windows with a full-size can of Fancy Feast behind each one. There are even two limited edition holiday flavors: Hearthside Salmon Platter with Pumpkin and Spinach and Yuletide Turkey Feast with Sweet Potato and Tomato in Gravy. The windows are set into a homey tableau with a decorated tree and a holiday meal on the table, a scene to warm human (and feline) hearts.
WUFERS DOG COOKIE ADVENT CALENDAR
Our Christmas cookies are off limits to dogs, but thanks to this 24-day calendar, he'll never know he's missing out. It's packed with hand-decorated doggy cookies. They're made with honey, peanut butter, apples, whole wheat flour, and spelt flour. The 'icing' is a yogurt coating. Expect tails to wag.
