Texas car shows are buzzing with impressive fleets of old and new, paying equal tribute to old school vehicles and modern pull trucks.
From the Hallettsville Truck Pull with its competitive spirit to a round up of classic hot rods, Texas has no shortage of automotive entertainment.
Here are our top three picks for Texas car shows based on three criteria: history, fun factor, and the variety of vehicles showcased.
3. Hallettsville Truck Pull
The Hallettsville Truck Pull is one of the most "local" Texas car shows around. Equivalent to a 'World's Strongest Man' for show trucks, the event showcases several competitions in a test of pull strength.
Trucks are placed into different classes (e.g., the Gas 4x4 Division G100 Work Stock with a 6000 lbs. max.) and compete much like a weight division in a combat sport. Other contests include kiddie tractor and mini-rod tractor pulls.
This event marinates in a festive camping style atmosphere with inexpensive accommodations and RV sites located outside of the expo center, which looks about as bare bones as you can get. For more information, visit HallettsvilleTruckPull.com.
2. Rock & Roll Annual Nostalgia Car Show & Cruise
The 22nd Annual Nostalgia Car Show & Cruise by the West Texas Street Rod Association is a time honored Texas tradition. Drawing more than 10,000 visitors every show, more than 700 models of classic, muscle, trucks, and stock cars are displayed to the public.
Corporate sponsors are local and low-key, e.g., Caratti Jewelry and a small Ford dealership. Plus, the event carries a drug-free theme with charitable activities to raise money in support of local organizations.
1. Lonestar Round Up
Hosted in Austin, Texas on February 24-26th of this year, this outdoor show specializes in hot rods and custom cars. Catch the 17th annual show April 6 and 7th, 2018 in Austin. For more information, visit LonestarRoundup.com.
