There's a new addition to the Polaris GENERAL line packed with custom features.
The engineers at Polaris have been exceedingly busy lately and the company has just announced the release with their new GENERAL XP 1000 Factory Custom Edition. We got our first sneak peek at this model during the Polaris 2021 new model event last month and we can finally share the details of this awesome machine.
This new GENERAL has many of the same great features found on the standard models, but with a whole new look and tons of custom features standard.
Here's all the juicy details on this awesome new crossover side-by-side that blurs the lines between factory and custom.
GENERAL XP 1000 Factory Custom Edition
Polaris knows their customers well. They spend quite a bit of time with them every year observing how people use their machines and gathering feedback. They know that many people add custom parts and accessories to their rides. The GENERAL XP 1000 Factory Custom edition is a direct response to these observations.
"With the GENERAL XP 1000 Factory Custom Edition, we wanted to deliver an off-road experience that can typically only be found with a full-blow custom vehicle," President of Off Road Steven Menneto said in a press release. "This product is another example of our relentless effort to apply direct feedback from our riders to deliver the best vehicles, push the industry forward, and ultimately, elevate the off-road lifestyle."
These new limited edition Factory Customs will be available in both two and four-seat models. The first notable thing here is the look. Polaris has given these machines a sharp blue and silver color scheme. The company says the components are powder coated Polaris blue while the rest is a matte titanium metallic.
The GENERAL machines have a 999cc, ProStar 4-stroke engine in them pumping out about 100 horsepower. These vehicles feel like a great balance between work and play already, but the Factory Customs have a few more features to help with that. For one, they're extremely stable thanks to a 64-inch wheelbase. These side-by-sides have an excellent suspension system that soaks up all the ruts and bumps and the sport-tuned chassis helps give the whole vehicle strength.
Secondly are the tires. Polaris fitted the Factory Custom Edition GENERALS with 30-inch Pro Armor Crawlers on HEXLR wheels. The company wanted to make it possible for riders to run lower tire pressures for differing terrain situations like sand or rocks. That's why they added blue beadlock rings to help with that. They also coated these with the same powder blue finish, helping make the vehicle stand out in the crowd.
Ride Command and More
Polaris is heavily pushing their optional Ride Command package in all their UTVs in 2021. On the Factory Custom Edition, this feature comes standard. Basically, it's a 7-inch display built into the dash that displays everything from your gauges, service information and diagnostics to a full-blown global positioning system with base maps of trails across North America.
One cool feature of this system is "group ride." It allows you to link up GENERAL with the other Ride Command equipped vehicles in your group. The map screen then gives continuous updates on the position of every machine in the group. The leader can also leave breadcrumbs for the others to follow. The cool thing about this feature is now you can hang back and avoid the dust from your friend's machines without losing track of the next turn on the trail. Ride Command also allows you to synch up your phone to receive texts and emails in the field.
That's not all for the Factory Custom Edition. Polaris has also fitted this version of the GENERAL with a Fosgate Stage 4 audio system. That's a 10-inch subwoofer and four surround speakers so you can listen to your favorite tunes as you tear down the trails or work the fields.
Polaris also realizes that not all UTV adventures are going to take place in the light of day. This edition comes with an 11-inch Pro Armor light bar standard to help light up the night.
The Polaris GENERAL XP 1000 Factory Custom Edition starts with an MSRP of $27,999 for the four-seat model and $25,999 for the two-seater. Not bad considering all the features. Polaris says to expect these sharp new UTVs in store later this month. See the Polaris Off-Road website for more information on this GENERAL and all their other models.
