Rapala lures have caught more world record fish than the lures of any other company, and they did it again in 2016, beating every other company in the market.
Rapala has once again set a record - or rather, multiple records - as the single most popular and successful line of fishing lures on the market. Last year, 2016, Rapala lures caught more world record fish than any other lure company.
The IGFA (International Game Fish Association) recorded that 14 world record fish were caught by anglers using Rapala lures. Included in the list of heavyweight records was a 47-pound 8-ounce Papuan Black Snapper.
Rapala lures have caught over 500 total world record fish - that's more than any other lure company - in Rapala's 110 year history.
Rapala USA President Tom Mackin said in a statement, "We are pleased and proud that, once again, more world records were caught on Rapala lures in 2016 than any other brand of lures. All over the world, big fish eat little fish that swim like a Rapala. It proves that with Rapala, any angler has a shot at catching a world-record fish."
Rapala is the first and only lure manufacturer to receive an IGFA Lifetime Achievement Award. Rapala products are sold all over the world, and every continent but Antarctica has registered world record fish caught on Rapala lures.
Additionally, nine new world record fish were caught in 2016 on Sufix fishing line (a Rapala brand), including a 188 lb. 3 oz. tarpon in the Junior Angler category.
But world records aren't everything. Tom Mackin, "Anglers across the globe catch more fish, make more memories and put more fillets on the table with Rapala baits."
