1.1 million 2015-2017 model year RAM pickup trucks have now been recalled due to a faulty tailgate locking system.
Specifically, all 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with 5-foot-7 inch or 6-foot-4 inch truck beds have faulty actuator tabs that could open unexpectedly, sending cargo flying when the vehicle is in motion.
All eight-foot truck bed trucks are excluded from the recall, as well as those with manual tailgates.
No injuries or deaths have been reported.
RAM advises all owners to keep all cargo secured. The recall officially starts on Sept. 14 with dealers offering to fix the faulty tailgates free of charge.
