Remember That Time the Clampetts Went Skeet Shooting?

Here's that time when Jed, Granny, Jethro, and Elly May went skeet shooting and put on quite a show!

For those wondering, the Clampetts were fictional TV family from the Ozarks that struck it rich by finding oil on their property while, get ready... the patriarch of the clan was out hunting one day!

After missing the long-eared target he had noticed, as the theme song says, "Up through the ground came a bubblin' crude... Oil that is. Black Gold. Texas Tea..."

Then off this "hillbilly family" went, with their newfound riches, to live in Beverly Hills, California. The Golden State was never the same.

While this fictional family from the hills were seemingly out of place in one of the country's richest areas, they never lost their homespun lifestyle, particularly when it came to the shooting sports.

In one episode Mr. Drysdale, the fictional banker, had invited Jed and his family to participate in an official skeet shooting event, and by the look of their shooting skills, even the U.S.A. Shooting Team must have taken notice!

Here's the silliness from way back in the 1960s:

It's all in fun, especially with the number of purposeful and silly errors that you can try to see through the grainy video.

First off, Drysdale tries to tell Jed not to use the 'rifle' (even though it actually looks like it's a double barrel shotgun, it even looks like a flintlock!), but we'll take their word for it.

Then it's Jethro's turn and he hits every target with a Lever Action.

That's not to mention Granny doubling up while shooting from the hip and Elly May being an ace with her slingshot!

Well, they couldn't miss, but the laughs were real. Even back in the sixties people were involved in shooting clubs and the fun was there to be had for folks of all ages.

Cheers to a simpler time when the shooting sports were a family affair!
