This retired nurse helps the sick and elderly from living out their final days alone in a shelter.
These dogs are literally left to die at their local shelters as their family isn't able to care for them in their final days. The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project has a very specific mission:
"We provide end of life care for abandoned dogs. We take only dogs that are from UK pounds that have been deemed as having less than six months to live."

Can you imagine how these animals feel when they end up at the shelter and they have less than six months to live?
The Animal Rescue Site wrote a piece about this retired nurse, Nicola Coyne and there are some wonderful details we want to unpack here. She showers these old dogs with love.
"A retired nurse, named Nicola Coyne, decided she needed to do something about this and set up The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project. She takes in dying dogs who've been abandoned by their owners and makes sure they spend the rest of their lives feeling loved."
She adopts two ailing seniors at a time. Her goal is to make sure each dog gets through a bucket list which ranges from a meal at McDonald's to steak dinners. She uses her own money to care for the dogs. You must spend some time on her Facebook page as the images will break your heart and make you smile.
"It can be an utterly heartbreaking job, but someone has to do it," Nicola says. "I'm a complete animal lover and I just can't bear the thought of them spending their final days, weeks, or months without the love they deserve. It can be really tough, but ultimately it's so rewarding when you can make those times special."
The article confirms that she's taken in about 30 dogs and has plots in her backyard for when they pass away.
