Angler Slices Open Swordfish Stomach, Pulls Out a Huge Squid

Big fish eat other big fish. Wait until you see what an angler cut out of this swordfish.

When you go saltwater fishing for big fish, like daytime swordfish, you use big bait. Here is proof that maybe you can't go too big with your bait.

This video from Gulf Coast Surf Fishing and Outdoors has a little bit of an ick factor, but that's what comes with deep water fishing.

The fishermen remove the stomach of the billfish, which is extremely swollen.

Everyone gathers around to see what the swordfish gobbled. As the stomach contents are pushed out, everyone erupts.

Swordfishing With Bait That's Not Big Enough

I don't think anyone was expecting a whole giant squid. Cephalopods that big probably think their time hiding from predator fish is over! The fact that swordfish feed on something that big is mind boggling! How big can swordfish stomachs get?!

Our favorite lines?

"How'd it choke that thing down?!"

"Just when you think your baits are too big."

So the next time you're out in the Pacific Ocean and you put the entire mackerel on your line don't let your friend tell you that it's way too big for swordfish bait. Just send them this video and expect something big and hungry on your line.
