We're always on the search for easy recipes that taste like you spent all day in the kitchen. When we stumbled upon a variation of this slow cooker recipe involving Dr. Pepper and a beef roast or pulled pork roast, well, we just had to try it with venison.
Without surprise, it turned out better than expected. In fact, it's probably one of the best variations of a pot roast recipe we've found.

Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper Venison Roast Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 whole venison roast
- 1 can of Dr. Pepper
- 1/4 cup water
- Carrots and celery for taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
Yeah, that's really all there is to this yummy meal. Those five ingredients for this slow cooker recipe are really all you need.
If you wanted to cut out the celery and carrots, you could. We just tossed them in there for a little something extra to scoop up into our mashed potatoes.
To get this recipe started, There's no soaking in marinade or waiting for meat to tenderize. Just pour a can of Dr. Pepper over the venison roast in your slow cooker, covering just about half of the roast. If you don't like Dr. Pepper, you can try this recipe with Coke too.
If one can doesn't do it, just add in some water. Otherwise, the one can is all you need for one of the better dinner recipes you'll come across.
Finally, add in some salt and pepper and set the slow cooker to low. Let it cook for at least six hours. The exact cook time will vary depending on your equipment, but the longer it's heated the more tender it becomes. Just remember, it's called "slow cooking" for a reason.
