The National Wild Turkey Federation and South Carolina's Department of Natural Resources had a very successful hunt.
The NWTF recently hosted a youth hunt at their Edgefield, SC property where 6 out of 7 youth harvested deer. The hunt was put on by the state's DNR through their Take One Make One program where youth are paired with mentors.
They are then given the chance to learn ethical and responsible hunting and experience a hunt first hand.
As the post demonstrates, the kids learned a lot and had a great time experiencing conservation. Most of the mentors were volunteers who gave their time to pass on our hunting tradition.
Congratulations to all of the young hunters who experienced their first hunt and thank you to the NWTF and the South Carolina DNR for investing in our future hunters.
Passing on our hunting heritage is crucial to protect what we love.
Check with your state's DNR if you are interested in becoming a mentor, or contact a conservation group like the NWTF.
