We had a one-on-one conversation with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem about the hunting heritage in her family, her state, and the country as a whole.
If you're an outdoorsman or woman, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "South Dakota?"
There's no right or wrong answer, but odds are you came up with "pheasant hunting" or "bison herds" or "Custer State Park." It's the same frame of mind that Governor Kristi Noem views her home state and the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors within its borders.
Gov. Noem was kind enough to give us some time during what's certainly a busy portion of her calendar, addressing a few things we love to bring up and talk about as summer turns to fall. An avid angler and hunter herself, Gov. Noem had a lot to say about getting outside during a global pandemic, raising families to love and respect the outdoors, and where her favorite spot in the world is to get away from all the stress and pressure of everyday life.
As she continues leading her state into another harvest season, there's no denying the role she's playing in championing the outdoor recreation opportunities available to South Dakotans and its visitors.
