July 4th is more than just Independence Day in North Carolina this year; help spread the word that everyone can fish for free on the nation's birthday.
What better way to celebrate the birthday of the United States of America than to introduce someone to fishing, and thanks to North Carolina's fish for free day, it's going to be easier than ever this year. On July 4th, 2017 anyone, resident or non-resident will be allowed to fish for free in any public body of water in North Carolina.
It is important to note that all other fishing regulations, such as length, daily limit, and any bait restrictions are still in effect. Think of it as a free sample. One day of the year where you can fish without paying for a whole year's license. A great way to take someone who's never been fishing before and show them the ropes. Of course we recommend that you go ahead and purchase the licence and the state's wildlife department can use those funds to help fund conservation efforts.
