When starting out, hunting firearms can be expensive on any budget.
Budget-friendly guns are a great way to start out in the woods.
These five firearms are great for any beginner.
1. Marlin Model 60 .22 Rifle
This tube-fed, semi-automatic, .22-caliber rifle is the perfect beginner's rifle. They run lower on the price range and are perfect for small game and target shooting. Cabela's price is $179.99 for this little rifle.
2. Ruger 10/22 Rifle
This was my first .22 rifle purchase. This semi-automatic rifle in standard form still is priced right and fires from a detachable box magazine. Squirrels, rabbits and even a coyote have fallen to my rifle. MSRP is currently $309.00 for the standard Ruger 10/22 Rifle, while many other versions are available at higher prices.
3. Mossberg 500 Shotgun
Mossberg is well known for their economically priced shotguns. This pump-action shotgun can be bought as a slug barrel combo package and that serves you well for both small game and large game in a pinch. MSRP is $475.00 for this shotgun.
4. Remington 870 Express Shotgun
My first purchased shotgun was a 12-gauge Remington 870 Express pump-action shotgun, which I personally prefer over the Mossberg. If you're able to handle a 12-gauge shotgun, that's what you should get to start off. It certainly is the do-it-all firearm for hunting purposes. MSRP starts at $417.00 for this model.
5. T/C Compass Rifle
This budget-friendly centerfire rifle is perfect for your long-distance, big-game needs without the higher prices. Plastic stocks help lessen the cost of a great T/C barrel and action. An adjustable trigger and a threaded muzzle are also provided. MSRP is $399.00 for this rifle.
