Hunters, shooters and outdoor enthusiasts couldn't have asked for a better supreme court nomination.
If there was one thing that stood out this election season, it was the importance of the future supreme court nominations. A left-leaning judge would have thrown the balance of the court to favor major gun control. This would have threatened our beloved outdoor sports.
Luckily, President Trump is on our side and demonstrated this with his pick of Neil Gorsuch to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who passed away last April.
The NRA has commended the selection and is backing the nomination. The executive director of the NRA, Chris W. Cox, made the following statements:
"We urge the Senate to swiftly confirm Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, just as it did in confirming him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit by a unanimous voice vote."
"On behalf of our five million members, the NRA strongly supports Judge Neil Gorsuch's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. We will be activating our members and tens of millions of supporters throughout the country in support of Judge Gorsuch. He will protect our right to keep and bear arms and is an outstanding choice to fill Justice Scalia's seat."
Neil Gorsuch, the Outdoorsman
Neil Gorsuch has been known to be a fly fishermen, skier and outdoorsman. When he's not practicing law, he's often found spending time in the mountains of Colorado or on his farm where his wife raises horses.
Mr. Gorsuch is often compared to Antonin Scalia, a well known champion of Second Amendment rights. They even went fishing together!
If he gets confirmed, Gorsuch, only 49 years old, will also be one of the youngest judges to take the seat. With good health, Gorsuch could spend several decades in the Supreme Court and his vote could remain the 4-4 deciding vote on any Second Amendment cases that come through the court.
