Tesla CEO Elon Musk's expectations are now reaching the stratosphere in more ways than one with the SpaceX Option Package.
At this year's annual shareholder meeting, Musk announced a SpaceX Option Package for its next-gen Roadster, which will comprise of 10 small rocket thrusters around the vehicle's perimeter. it is designed to boost speed and acceleration to the point of almost being able to fly, as Musk alluded to in a tweet about the new Roadster.
SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly ?

Can Do It All By Yourself
According to Musk, the new Tesla Roadster electric car would apply SpaceX's Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel (COPV), an air compression technology used by SpaceX's own rocket boosters to land its rockets. In this Tesla model case, a miniature version of these rocket engines would likely apply.
In typical Musk fashion, his SpaceX options package tweet was also followed by an anecdote about having to decide between a Palo Alto, Calif. home and a McLaren F1 after selling his first company, promising that the Tesla Roadster would "exceed all gas sports cars in every way ..."
No word on when the electric vehicle with the upgrade package will go to market.
