Yard work sadly turned tragic for one Texas father-to-be. The 20-year-old died after getting electrocuted while trimming a tree in the yard. He was expecting his first child.
An Arlington Police Department spokesperson confirmed the identity of the victim to People. Carl Blaylock III died after hitting a powerline. He was using a chainsaw and hit the powerline while trying to cut down the tree. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. Currently, they're not planning a criminal investigation. All signs point to this being a tragic accident.
"At this time, we have no evidence that a criminal offense occurred," the Arlington Police Department spokesperson said in a statement. "This appears to be a very tragic accident." Police officers had to keep back the family while firefighters tried to retrieve Blaylock.
"The family of Carl David Blaylock III (a.k.a. Trey) is devastated at the tragic loss they sustained when Trey cut into a power line hidden in a large tree," read the statement. "He and his girlfriend Alyssa had just announced on Facebook that they were expecting a baby girl later this year."
Texas Father-To-Be Dies
"Trey was the first generation [in his family] to graduate high school at Timber Creek High School and was finding his footing in life but working contract jobs to earn money. This particular job would have made him $100," they added.
His step-grandmother Lynn Amante created a GoFundMe to pay for Blaylock's funeral. They also wanted to establish a trust fund for his child. She wrote, "Life can be so tragic. Hi, my name is Lynn Amante and I'm the step-grandma of Trey Blaylock (aka Carl David III). Treys's 20 year old life was cut short yesterday in a tragic accident. He was helping his uncle (not licensed or bonded) trimming trees in Arlington when he cut into power line hidden in the tree."
"Words cannot express what a good young man Trey was," Amante continued. "He has been in our lives since he was a young child. He leaves behind his devastated father, my daughter, his two sisters, Jasmine and Mya and his brother, Kayson."
Hie family said they would "remember Trey as a young man who loved his family, his dog and dirt bike. He worked hard and was polite and helpful to all. Forever in our hearts."
