Round of applause for this San Antonio-area mother who took care of a rattlesnake before it got a chance to get near her home.
Janie Moy told MySanAntonio.com she's now "paranoid" after encountering, and swiftly killing, a large rattlesnake outside her home.
Her three children, the youngest of which is 3, play in the yard, and motherly instinct took over.
"I look at the tail. I look closer: Oh no, it's a rattlesnake," Moy said. "I can't let this come toward the house."
Moy's husband, an avid hunter, told her over the phone to "Just kill it," which she did with three shots with a .410.
Apparently despite other wildlife like hogs, mountain lions, and bobcats being sighted in the area, Moy had never reported seeing any rattlesnakes before this incident.
Moy said in her Facebook post that the snake was just under 4 feet long.
She can consider herself lucky knowing what happened to another Texas family earlier this year, when a rattlesnake emerged from their toilet.
