That's One Giant Walleye Swimming Around in an Iowa Lake

This big walleye is waiting in an Iowa lake!

With the spring fishing seasons upon us, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources certainly knows how to get the attention of the public.

The DNR posted up a photo of a monster 12-pound, 28-inch walleye they caught during research efforts on Polk County's Big Creek Lake.

"We found this fish while researching the effectiveness of a fish barrier on the Big Creek Lake spillway at keeping walleye and muskie in the lake. Yes, we released this monster back to the lake!" the DNR wrote in a post on Facebook.

While this lunker is still a couple of pounds under the Iowa state record walleye, a 14 pound, 8 ounce fish also caught in Polk County in 1986, who wouldn't want to catch a 12-pounder? It looks like he's got some cool character too with that damaged tail fin too.

Now you just have to find this big fish on the 814,000 acre lake. Easier said than done. Good luck Iowa anglers!
