The Backwater Signature Series Tarpon Fly Kit is an instant classic that is just in time for 2017's tarpon season!
I am happy to say that the Backwater's Signature Series Tarpon Fly Kit is hand made by myself, Capt. Jesse Males, and my father, William Males. Saltwater fly tying is a huge passion of mine and landing trophy fish with these flies is just the icing on the cake. If you are familiar with my HD fly tying videos then you probably already new that.
The reason behind adding these hand made boxes to my online fly shop, backwaterflies.com, is to be able to deliver a unique product that will help make your 2017 tarpon season even more successful!
Since we are now taking orders on these boxes, here are some very important things you need to know!
Each of these boxes are hand made to order and certain customizable options can be added to make each one extremely personalized. These are great gifts for the tarpon junkie in your family or even make a great thank you gift for that tarpon guide that keeps putting you on fish year after year!
The box you see in the image above was lucky enough to be accepted as a raffle prize for Tarponville's Jungle's Edge Tarpon Tournament in Costa Rica this March.
Some of the customizable options that we offer include:
- Customized logo inserts on the inside of the box. If logos are not your thing, then a favorite quote or photo can be substituted instead.
- Certain fly changes can be made to make each fly exactly how you want it.
- The classic tarpon insert on the top of the box can be changed or painted.
- The classic red apple stain on the outside of the box can be changed to a darker or lighter stain of your choice.
Technically, since these boxes are hand made to order, the customizable options are endless. With that said, if there is something you want done to your box, we will try our best to make it happen.
Another great thing about making each tarpon fly kit from scratch is that they all end up 100 percent unique. While the box works best as a collectors piece it can and should be used on the water. However, certain preventative care measures should be taken to ensure the box is well oiled at the hinges and wiped down after each day of fishing.
Because it is made of wood, direct sunlight is it's enemy. Try to store it in a waterproof bag or in a dry box when on the water.
If you have any further questions or would like to place and order for your very own custom box, then feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected].
Oh, and don't forget to share this post with your other fishing buddies. Chances are they will all want one too!
Keep your hearts right, and your lines tight!
