This cajun venison alfredo sounds plenty good if you ask me!
Ready for a cajun recipe that'll put that venison in your freezer to good use?
According to Noel, from My Wild Kitchen, like most cajun food, this won't turn out to be "hot" spicy, but is definitely "flavorful" spicy.
Let's dive in and see what this dish is all about!
Ingredients
- Venison steaks
- Olive oil
- Cajun seasoning
- Poblano pepper
- Pasta
- Italian seasoning,
- Half-n-half
- Lemon pepper
- Garlic powder
- Basil
- Pepper mozzarella
- Parmesan
- Tomato
- Green onion
Step One - 10 Minutes
Prepare your venison. You are welcome to use steaks, backstrap, or tenders. If decide that you would like to use backstop or tenders, slice the meat into medallions first. Next, pat the meat dry to prevent spatter.
Tenderize the meat and then transfer it to a bowl where you can now add the cajun seasoning. Mix the seasoning with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and set it aside as you prepare the other ingredients.
Step Two - 5 Minutes
This step is very simple. Dice one large pepper of your choice, one tomato, and one green onion. If you would like to spice up the dish even more, then you are welcome to use a spicier pepper of your choice.
Once that is done, set it aside for later as you boil a large pot of water with olive oil, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning.
Step Three - 15-20 Minutes
Heat a large skillet and brown the marinated venison strips over medium heat. When the meat becomes medium rare, stir in the diced peppers.
Meanwhile, stir about 3 cups of your favorite pasta into the boil water that you started during step two.
Step Four - 5-7 Minutes
Focusing our attention back on the skillet, gradually stir in 1½ c half-n-half. Heavy whipping cream can also be used for this step. Also stir in 1 tsp dried basil, 1/2 tsp lemon pepper, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp pepper.
Bring contents to a simmer and then add in your cheese. Stir until the cheese is completely melted in with the cream.
Step 5 - 5 Minutes
Drain the noodles into a large bowl. Cover with the meat sauce and add diced tomatoes and onions to the top. Stir well.
Serve individual servings with grated parmesan.
There you have it. Those are the simple steps needed to create Cajun Venison Alfredo! Give it a try and let us know how you like it.
