Demolition Ranch has just acquired some older-style Army helmets. If you've ever wondered how well a helmet like this would actually protect our servicemen and women, you're about to find out.
Matt tests out a variety of different rounds, including the .50 BMG. The results might surprise you.
If you've served, you might not be surprised. But for the rest of us, this was definitely an eye-opener. The fact these didn't hold up well beyond the .22 Long Rifle probably means they weren't designed to actually stop bullets. These helmets may have been intended to give their best protection against shrapnel in an explosion.
Still, given the choice between helmet and no helmet at all, I think most of us would take these any time. Some of the smaller rounds would give you a headache, but at least you'd have a chance at survival.
