Video: Dramatic Dog Rescue by Courageous Canadian Firefighters

Man's best friend is given a second chance at life.

Dramatic footage has surfaced that showcases the life-saving rescue of a dog that fell through the thin ice on top of a creek Nov. 28 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Shared to the Facebook page of Denis Pilon, who happens to be chief for the Swift Current Fire Department, the tense footage is already trending on social media.

There are a few hold-your-breath moments as a member of the fire department team attempts to bring the struggling dog to shore.

Here's the video:

If it hadn't been for the fast-acting fire crew, this poor dog would've surely succumbed to the cold.

The fire chief did use the event to highlight an important message, which he eloquently stated in his post:

STAY OFF THE ICE!!

"Yesterday afternoon, our firefighters were busy at the creek, rescuing someone's pet. They allowed their dog to run off leash when it ventured out onto the ice and fell through. Quick action calling the fire department helped save their pet. Please keep your pets and children away from the Creek, the ice is thin and it is NOT safe."

We're lucky to have men and women out there who not only protect us, but also our pets!
