Of all the ways to go out, being killed by a mountain lion has to be one of the worst.
A recent video hit the outdoors social media world in a big way. As you're about to see and hear, an elk hunter had a very close call with a mountain lion. While posted up in a clearing waiting for elk, the hunter heard something behind him. Much to his fear and surprise, when he turned around, it was a mountain lion just a few feet away.
From there, the hunter knocked an arrow, let it loose, and possibly saved his own life in the process.
Here, just listen to Trevor Brown share his story himself.
You can carry a gun for self-defense while bowhunting in Colorado. I'm going elk hunting out there in November. Thankfully, I'll be out there during the third rifle season, so I'll be heavily armed.
Still, though, this hunter is lucky he heard the mountain lion when he did. Most of the time, a big cat like that doesn't make itself known to its victim until it's already too late.
What a story!
