Eric obviously doesn't pack lightly. Granted, you could probably get away with a smaller spotting scope and smaller pan. Most of us also won't be packing quite that much camera gear. Still, there are some very good suggestions here.
About the only thing we see missing is a good first aid kit. Because you just never know what can happen when you're out in the woods. Be prepared!
