Would you risk throwing a $120 lure?
Everyone knows fishing lures can be expensive, but some cost way more than others. Such is the case with the new lure YouTube fishing celebrity Jon B bought. Made to look like an arowana, this insanely cool-looking, hybrid-type Japanese bait is both a topwater and subsurface lure.
But at $120, he has some reservations about actually trying it out. But will it actually work on Illinois largemouths?
We can't really blame Jon for being hesitant to throw this lure. It's one of the most beautiful baits we've ever seen, and it would make for one painfully expensive break-off if he were to lose it. The arowana is a fish native to places like South America, Africa and Asia, but that didn't matter here, as that northern Illinois bass still wanted to eat it!
It just goes to show that sometimes a lure's action is enough. It doesn't necessarily have to resemble anything the fish has seen before. In fact, that may be what peaked that fish's interest.
This is also another testament to how voracious largemouth bass can be. That lure was half the fish's length and it still attacked it!
