Talk about a spectacle!
Mountain lions range through most of the western United States, although we don't have the privilege of seeing them that often. People often capture footage of these solitary animals on security cameras and trail cameras with motion-sensitive lighting, but rarely are they graced with face-to-face encounters.
Once in a blue moon, however, someone finds themselves in cougar country at the right time.
Along Mirror Lake Highway near Kamas, Utah, two juvenile mountain lions were lucky enough to find a deer that appears to have been recently struck by a vehicle.
In an incredible display of the Mother Nature's food chain, the two big cats put on a show for this motorist.

According to a report from FOX 13 News, Utah resident Abby Ringquest was the one behind the wheel Friday. She said she went home and checked on all her animals as soon as she got home just to be safe.
This is a good example of how important predator control can be. It's not that predators like mountain lions and coyotes are bad. In fact, they play an integral role in the ecosystem. However, in order to keep our young ones and our pets safe, it's imperative we keep them at a safe distance.
Had this deer been right near Ringquest's driveway, there's no telling if it would've made its way onto her property, where she apparently had chickens, goats and dogs.
It's our duty as conservationists to educate non-hunters on the importance of wildlife management, which often demands predator control.
On a lighter note, though, I can't say I'm not jealous of Ringquest for being lucky enough to make eye contact with one of America's most formidable predators!
