Sometimes trees fall and other times, they start unloading gallons of water. At least, that's what's happening in a viral video shared by The Regrowth Project. A tree gushing water like a fire hydrant leaves many to wonder why. Some say the tree is peeing and others say that it's something biblical, but the real reason is some trees just hold huge amounts of water.
"Somehow the tree was gashed open and now it's essentially bleeding out its water supply, which when you think about it is pretty sad," the writer of the caption opines, adding that this style of tree actually stores water.
However, it's best to take that explanation with a grain of salt. The video shows the water gushing from a small cut in the tree, which suggests that someone had started cutting it with a chainsaw. What most likely happened, according to the Omaha Tree Service, is when a tree starts rotting, the inside gets hollowed out and that empty space sometimes fills with water.
Other types of trees, like Birch trees, store large amounts of water, which becomes its sap, which you can drink. However, experts say you should not drink water from a rotting tree.
