This is what it is like to get shot at by an A-10 Warthog.
Soldiers love the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, aka: "The Warthog." It is arguably the coolest piece of aircraft to ever take to the skies for the United States. It is also one of the most well-armed. For ground troops under heavy enemy fire, this plane is a savior thanks to its huge 30mm autocannon.
There is no shortage of videos on the Internet of the A-10 firing this cannon. The rounds from this aircraft's main gun are flying so fast that the bullets hit the target before you hear the distinctive "Brrrrrttttt" of the cannon.
That 30mm cannon is the main reason this plane is so feared by enemy combatants. In case you still are not convinced, watch this video posted to the U.S. Special Operations Command's official Twitter account. Someone put a camera on the ground near the A-10's target and it captures the incredible moment the rounds start hitting.

Wow. That was intense to say the least. Kudos to whoever risked their camera getting completely annihilated to capture this incredible shot!
There is a saying among soldiers about the A-10: "If you hear that distinctive 'Brrrrttttt' sound, you were not the target of this plane." Well, this video confirms that saying is 100 percent accurate! In the video you can clearly hear the A-10's engines, but then the rounds just start hitting all around the camera. It is not until the camera has been turned upside down by the energy of the bullets hitting that we hear that distinctive sound.
It goes without saying that probably few people have experienced this perspective of getting shot at by this plane and lived to tell the tale. No wonder the A-10 is so loved by our troops and feared by anyone else!
