How much can be salvaged off some roadkill?
You'll get many differing opinions on whether you can salvage the meat off a road-killed animal or not. Eric of the HUSHIN crew just happened to come across a car/deer accident while in Colorado.
Fortunately, he was able to obtain a salvage tag for the animal. But now the question is, how much of that meat will be salvageable?
Well, Eric made a video to find out and it's rather interesting to see.
Eric was able to salvage quite a bit of meat and use what otherwise may have ended up wasted. Really, the worst part was that one back leg. The backstraps and the neck roast were otherwise in perfect condition.
It's an unfortunate situation anytime someone strikes a deer with their vehicle. But this time it worked out probably as well as one of these accidents can. The vehicle was damaged, and the driver was shaken up, but uninjured. It's a shame the deer died in the wreck, but at least he won't go to waste.
It is worth looking into your own state's salvage laws. Who knows? You could get a chance to salvage some venison that otherwise would go unused.
