Firefighters get the call to free dangling deer.
A deer in distress received a second chance at life after California firefighters came to its rescue recently.
The event was captured on the cell phone of Lodi resident Rhonda Perry Parker, who discovered the dangling deer, wedged between two bars of her neighbor's backyard fence, and immediately called 911.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to spread the iron railing and ultimately give the unlucky deer its freedom back.
"I was so grateful they came and saved him," Parker said.
Firefighters checked out the animal after performing the rescue and it seemed to be strong and in good health. It scampered off shortly thereafter.
Time to start practicing your high jump, little fella.
