A golden eagle eating a live pronghorn from atop its back may just be the most indecent scene of nature you'll ever see.
This is certainly a very graphic video that most may find hard to watch. A golden eagle is seen riding on the back of a pronghorn antelope that it appears to have attacked from above.
Golden eagles attacking pronghorns and other very large prey is not unusual or unheard of. It's just that when you behold the sight of an eagle actively eating the pronghorn from on its back, well, let's just say that it's a little disturbing.
Golden eagles will attack and eat pronghorn, deer and even wild goats. This one has taken a liking to one unlucky speed goat.
WARNING: THE VIDEO IS VERY GRAPHIC
These eagles have been known to attack prey such as this in places like Wyoming and other western states. It's not unusual for golden eagles to attack animals that are much larger than they are, but they'll do it when the opportunity arises.
Seeing this video just reminds us of the fact that nature is a very cruel place sometimes when it comes to survival. Hunters everywhere are reminded that a quick, clean kill makes all the difference between humans and animals in the natural world.
If you find someone that doesn't think so, then tell them how Komodo Dragons hunt in Indonesia: they bite their prey with bacteria laced mouths and then follow them for days or weeks until they die of blood poisoning.
