So, You Want to Become a Fly Fishing Guide? Here's How to Do It

If it's your dream to become a fly fishing guide, here's your chance

Mark your calendar now: your chance to become a fly fishing guide is going to take place May of this year. Vail Valley Anglers is set to host another guide training program, teaching students the ins and outs of being a full-time trout guide. The instructors are some of the top guides in the Vail, Colorado area, and the knowledge that will be on display is priceless.

For a breakdown of what you would be getting yourself into, just check out this video from Vail Valley Anglers.

Well, that seems easy enough; however, there's still a little more to it. For the guide school, a one-time price of $995 plus lodging gets it done. What you get, though, is five days of classroom and on-river instruction from current full-time guides. All you need to do is bring is your gear as well as the appropriate clothing to get you by for five days on the river, regardless of the weather.

Other than the guide school, Vail Valley Anglers also offer a Colorado state oar certification course. If you want to be a float guide in the state of Colorado, you must have this certification. For $1395 plus lodging, you will get the required 50 hours of river time and all the instruction you need to be ready to guide.

As it is scheduled now, the guide school will be in two groups:

  • Session #1 - May 8-12, 2017
  • Session #2 - May 15-19, 2017

The oar certification has one group:

  • Evening Orientation May 21, 2017
  • Certification Course - May 22-27, 2017

If you want to become a fly fishing guide, you better follow Vail Valley Anglers for updates. In the meantime, get yourself signed up now!
