Video: Colorado Police and Dive Team Rescue Mule Deer

These brave men made this rescue in some seriously icy conditions.

This time of year, people and animals alike sometimes find themselves in a dangerous situation out on the ice and need help.

Such was the case in Lakewood, Colorado, where a mule deer buck found himself broken through the ice. Although the buck was standing in the broken ice, he was too tired to move. West Metro Fire Rescue came in to save the day.

Check out the great photos and a video someone took at the scene.

"The team broke a path through the ice, grabbed onto an antler and then guided the deer back to shore, where he warmed up in Lakewood Police Department's animal control van," West Metro Fire Rescue wrote on Facebook. It seems a few members of the team couldn't resist the opportunity for a unique photo op while the buck warmed up.

Not only did these rescuers help a deer in distress, but the dive team got some more valuable, hands-on experience with an ice rescue. This was an excellent job by the Lakewood Police and West Metro Fire Rescue. Thanks for sharing the photos of the rescue with the world!
